Providing high-quality services, on time to our customers’ satisfaction, is what AMCE prides itself with. Once again we delivered and connected Tshwane with the implementation of the City’s Integrated Rapid Public Transport Network (IRPTN). The backbone of the City of Tshwane’s IRPTN network is the Bus Rapid Transit System, called A Re Yeng.

During our appointment, we did not only assist Tshwane with the planning, design, and implementation of A Re Yeng but assisted with the construction of the infrastructure.

The following phases of the A Re Yeng project were delivered:

  • Phase 1A runs from the Inner City to the Pretoria Zoo via Paul Kruger Street;
  • Phase 1B runs from Pretoria Zoo to Wonderboom Station;
  • Phase 2A runs from the Inner City to Hatfield; and
  • Phase 2B runs from Hatfield to Menlynn via Lynnwood Road and Atterbury Road

At the end of our contract period,
AMCE assisted with launch and operationalization of the following services for A Re Yeng:

  • Phase 1A;
  • Phase 2A;
  • Various feeder routes that connect passengers traveling to and from Steve Biko Hospital, Muckleneuk, Groenkloof Tshwane University of Technology and the Inner City;
  • Belle Ombre Bus depot;
  • Traffic Management Centre; including
  • A fleet of 40 buses that run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). The buses were a first in Africa to run on CNG;
  • Low floor stations that make boarding for the bus easier on median lanes; and the
  • More cost-effective station designs

Since the A Re Yeng Project, AMCE has been appointed for the design, planning, and implementation of similar projects in the City of Polokwane, Leeto la Polokwane, and the City of Ekurhuleni’s Harambee.
