AMCE has a vacancy for an experienced Mechanical Engineer. The incumbent will be
responsible for supporting the organization in coordinating multidisciplinary project, must be
familiar with various types of software including HAP, Revit 3D, AutoCAD as well as other
computer applications such as Microsoft Office. Design of HVAC, Fire and Wet Services for
multi-year projects and delivering the designs, producing BOQs, technical specifications,
managing project finance, project management duties, answerable to both Client and AMCE
professional team, managing a team of discipline specific. The position will report directly to
the Manager: Mechanical and Electrical.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
This role is responsible for supporting the organization in coordinating multidisciplinary project,
must be familiar with various types of software including HAP, Revit 3D, AutoCAD as well as
other computer applications such as Microsoft Office. Design of HVAC, Fire and Wet Services
for multi-year projects and delivering the designs, producing BOQs, technical specifications,
managing project finance, project management duties, answerable to both Client and
AMCE professional team, managing a team of discipline specific.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC).
- Design of Fire Services (Fire Detection, Fire Protection, Sprinkler etc).
- Design of Wet Services (Internal hot and cold-water supply to buildings, cold water
storage tanks and pumps, drainage reticulation, heat pumps, hot water generation etc) - Design of Lifts and Escalators.
- Design of Medical Gas installations.
- Preparation and review of all tender documentation i.e., Bill of Quantities, Technical
Specifications and Detailed Scope of Works. - Collaboration with project management / engineering staff to achieve project
objectives. - Participation in regular project meetings and assessments of ongoing project needs.
- Full capability in understanding and interpretation of process and instrumentation
- diagrams.
- Working collaboratively with other engineering disciplines in resolving coordination issues
on site. - Compiling a project schedule for the design and construction deliverables with
- Reporting on project finance.
- Timeous invoicing on projects.
- Compiling cost reports for clients.
- Attend site meetings.
- Monitoring the progress of project from start to commissioning.
- Ensuring compliance with project programme and all knowledge areas.
- Execution of Site Instructions.
- Monitor progress against accepted construction schedule and review the Contractor’s
progress reports. - Regularly review and approve contract submittals and payment applications to
contractors. - Participate in contract close-out activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
